Find Lewis County Busted Mugshots

Chehalis houses the Lewis County Jail, and its website carries the working records: a current roster, a new-bookings view, and a release tab for anyone whose custody may have changed. Those pages are built from text, not photos. A search here usually means confirming a name, a booking date, and the charges as the jail listed them, rather than pulling up an image. When the roster cannot answer an older question, a public records request to the county fills the gap. That roster, backed by a public records request, is the source of Lewis County busted mugshots, and the court file adds what happened to the case after booking.

Lewis County Busted Mugshots

A booking photo gets taken at jail intake. The booking record logs the person's entry into custody. It also carries the processing details. In Lewis County, the Sheriff's Corrections Bureau runs the Lewis County Jail. Washington law requires a timely public register. Yet it treats most jail records as confidential outside listed exceptions. That split shapes what a visitor sees. The official jail pages offer register-style facts, not a gallery of booking images.

Here is the order of events: arrest first, then jail intake, then a listing on a current booking or custody page when one applies, and finally a court case if charges get filed. A roster entry only reflects custody at a given moment. It works best as a snapshot of who is in the jail right now.

Lewis County Booking Volume

The county's 2024 Corrections annual report offers solid context. It counted 3,008 bookings and 3,032 releases for the year. The average daily population sat at 163, and the typical stay ran nine days. Keep in mind what these numbers are. They measure jail operations, not convictions, unique individuals, offenses, or crime in any given city. They also explain something that puzzles many first-time visitors. A live roster can look short even while the jail processes thousands of bookings and releases across a full year.

Lewis County Booking Record Fields

People expect more from the live Lewis County jail interfaces than they deliver. Each main row lists a name. It also shows a county number plus the booked-at date and time, with a link for release notifications. Click a row open. You get intake fields and case-routing details. Those fields do real work. They help tell apart two people with similar names. They also point you toward the right court.

FieldWhat it shows
Name and numberAn identity cue and jail number, not a court case number.
Booked AtWhen the person entered the jail system, not necessarily when the underlying event occurred.
Arresting and billing agencyAgency labels attached to the custody row.
Court and bond fieldsBooking-time routing, bond type, and bond amount, all subject to later court action.
Warrant or citation and descriptionA listed booking charge or status, not a conviction.

What is missing matters just as much. The online tables show no photograph. There is no birth date or home address either. No narrative report, prosecutor's final charging document, hearing calendar, or disposition appears. A separate completed-releases view adds the name, the release time, and the release destination. For an outcome, the court file is the place to look, not a jail row.

Note: A booking description may change, be dropped, or differ from a filed charge, so treat it as a lead toward the court record.

Lewis County Busted Records Requests

Need a Sheriff or jail-held record beyond the live views? The Lewis County Sheriff's Office Records Division handles those requests. Its public-record form has fields for a case, ticket, or booking number, plus a Jail category. A tight request works best. Identify the person. Give an approximate booking or release date. Name the Lewis County Jail, and add a booking number if you have one. Spell out the specific existing record you want. From there the office may provide the material or redact parts of it. It might send a cost estimate, ask for clarification, or deny it under the applicable law.

  1. Open the Sheriff’s Public Records Request Form and choose the jail-related category when it fits.
  2. Supply identifiers and a narrow date range, then describe the existing record rather than asking the office to create a summary.
  3. Choose email, paper, fax, or pickup delivery and retain the request details for any later clarification.
  4. Allow the initial five-business-day response period. It is a response deadline, not a promise of production or disclosure.

Costs are modest for paper. The Sheriff lists copies at 15 cents per page. Its 2025 fee sheet puts visual-material reproduction at actual cost plus staff time. Neither price promises a protected booking photo gets handed over. The Records Division singles out jail records, booking photos included, as protected material. So a request really asks the custodian to evaluate one identifiable existing record. The Sheriff's records page explains that protection and the local request routes.

The official Sheriff records-request page is the source shown here.

Washington Mugshot Records Law

Washington statute sets the framework. RCW 70.48.100 forces a jail operator to keep an open register. It must list each confined person's name, the time, date, and cause of confinement, and the time, date, and manner of discharge. A separate confidentiality rule sits in the same law. It means the open register never creates a general right to a booking photograph. The Lewis County roster reflects the open-register side. The Sheriff's photo-protection notice reflects the other.

Correction paths start at the source. No Washington-specific statute was verified that forces a private mugshot publisher to delete a listing or bans a removal fee. If an official record is wrong, ask the original custodian to review it. Court relief might mean nonconviction-data deletion, vacation, or sealing. Each is a different process. A vacated adult case can still remain public unless a court separately seals it.

For confirmed secondary listings, RecentlyBooked runs a no-fee review process. It covers supported correction, suppression, or removal requests. Those include wrong-person, outdated, juvenile, duplicate, dismissed, or sealed matters. That publisher policy is not a government remedy. It sets no eligibility. Arre.st terms likewise state that removal or modification carries no charge, though no public eligibility checklist was verified. Skip paid intermediaries. Once a host removes or materially changes a page, Google's Refresh Outdated Content tool can update the search result, though it cannot touch live source content. The official Washington Courts forms hub is the starting point for current court forms, and individual eligibility questions belong with the court or qualified counsel.

Lewis County Busted Records Privacy

The public roster leaves plenty out. The Sheriff treats juvenile material, medical details, active investigative files, safety and privacy information, and certain jail records, including booking photos, as protected. Chapter 13.50 RCW shields most juvenile justice-agency records separately. So a name you fail to find proves nothing.

Question: Does a name missing from the roster prove there was no arrest? No. The person may never have been booked into the county jail at all. They might have been released, transferred, or held in a different custody system. Or the underlying record may simply be protected. For a firm answer, ask the agency that created the record or the court handling the matter.

Handle sealed files and protected jail material with care. A missing photo proves nothing. A missing youth record supports no conclusions either. Treat the public pages as a custody tool, not a full historical archive.

Match the source to the person's current status. Confined at Lewis County Jail right now? Start with the county jail roster. A person just received by the jail will show on the Bookings page instead. Once a release may have occurred, move to the separate completed-releases tab. Keep in mind that all three county interfaces are text-only, and none of them publishes booking photos.

  1. Search the current roster by last name and open a plausible matching row.
  2. Check current bookings for a recent intake and completed releases for the stated short release window.
  3. Use court records to follow a filed case, hearing, dismissal, conviction, acquittal, diversion, or other resolution.
  4. For state-prison custody, search Washington DOC. For federal or immigration custody, use the matching federal locator only when that custody is actually involved.
  5. For an older or unavailable agency record, submit a narrow request to the office that holds it.

No verified Lewis County Sheriff mobile app exists. Skip the app stores for inmates, photos, or warrants. The per-row VINE registration on the jail pages is different than it looks. It is a notification option for one listed person. It is not a photo service or a stand-in for the live county pages.

Lewis County Roster Search Details

The official Lewis County Jail Roster gives the public exactly one search control: a last-name filter. There is no visible way to search by first name, date range, charge, booking number, or across long stretches of history. Type a surname first. Then read each matching row's name and number closely before expanding it for custody details. A shared last name alone never identifies a person.

Roster field or controlUse and limit
Filter List by Last NameThe only observed public search field.
Name, Number, Booked AtVisible list fields for current custody entries.

Expanded rowShows arrest date, agency, court, bond, warrant or citation number, and description.
Photo or refresh dateNo public photo field, update schedule, or fixed persistence period was published.

Think of the roster as a live look at current custody, nothing more. Rows with different booked-at dates sit together as long as those people remain held. Any row can vanish after a release, transfer, or correction. When a row disappears, that tells you the custody status changed, not what a court decided. The county's own accuracy notice promises no particular refresh schedule.

The official current-custody roster displays the surname filter and text-first layout represented below.

Lewis County Busted Booking Views

Lewis County splits its information into new bookings, current custody, and completed releases rather than one fixed-period arrest log. The Jail Bookings page is the place to check for someone just received. Each row lists the name, number, booked-at date and time, VINE links, and expandable custody fields. Times there reflect the current calendar day. The County never defines the page as a 24- or 48-hour window, and no booking photos appear.

The roster serves as the multi-day view of who is currently held, not a weekly blotter. Completed Releases is its own short-window page. It lists name, released-at time, and released-to. The jail says it accurately reflects releases from the prior 24 hours. No official weekly booking blotter, long-term release archive, or downloadable historical booking archive could be verified.

Note: A booking entry can shift to the roster and then to the release view while the underlying case is still open.

For the short release window, the jail's Completed Releases page is the official source.

A release listing reports a custody change, not whether a booking charge was proven, reduced, or dismissed.

Lewis County Busted Release Timing

Roster changes often follow the jail's published release-processing pattern. Court, bail, and bond releases after 7 a.m. are generally handled at 11 a.m. or between 3 and 5 p.m. Bail or bond posted after 4:30 p.m. is usually processed after 8 p.m. These are general windows, not predictions for any individual's release, bond amount, or court result.

That timing comes from the jail's Basic Jail Information page. After a custody row disappears, check the completed-releases view, then turn to the right court record to learn what happened with the case.

Lewis County Busted Court Outcomes

A jail row stops at custody information. The court record tells the rest of the story: arraignment, later filings, hearing activity, dismissal, diversion, acquittal, conviction, or any other disposition. Lewis County Superior Court sends public case searches to Odyssey Portal. Lewis County District Court points the public to re:SearchWA instead. Municipal cases may run through a city court.

Court outcomes: What appears at booking is only the start. The court record tells the rest of the story.

Use the Superior Court records route for general-jurisdiction files and the District Court access page for limited-jurisdiction records. One caution: a calendar date is just a hearing date, never a result.

Lewis County Court Record Sources

Booking records and court records answer to different custodians. The Sheriff's request route covers Sheriff and jail-held materials only. Court documents come from the court that filed them, not the county public-record portal. Superior Court keeps adult criminal files open unless sealed. The District Court portal offers free online public case-record searching, while routing document and recording requests through its own process.

Booking
Jail intake and custody processing after an arrest or other lawful detention.
Arraignment
A court appearance where an accused person is informed of a charge and enters a plea.
Bond
A custody-related financial or other release condition that may be changed by the court.
Disposition
The court’s procedural result, such as dismissal, conviction, acquittal, or diversion.
Sealing
A court-controlled access restriction that is different from simply vacating a case.

Centralia Municipal Court notes that preliminary or bail hearings can take place at Lewis County Jail outside regular court days. That quirk matters. It is one more reason to trace a custody field back to the proper court rather than treating a roster as the last word on a record.

Washington DOC Custody Search

The state Department of Corrections runs an Incarcerated Search for people in DOC custody. Look someone up by first name, last name, or DOC number. It is not a freshly booked Lewis County list. It cannot stand in for the county roster. Not every profile there carries a photo. A separate Secretary's Warrant Search does show photos when they exist, but that tool only covers outstanding DOC secretary's warrants, not routine county bookings.

Federal custody works differently. The Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator takes a name or register number and returns no booking-photo field. ICE's Online Detainee Locator System has its own identifier and country-of-birth requirements, also with no photo results. Neither federal route confirms a Lewis County booking.

The official DOC incarcerated-person search is the state-prison custody source depicted here.

Lewis County Busted Record Channels

Start with official sources. Each one marks a distinct custody status. News coverage and county-focused third-party sites can add context, yet they hold no authority as records. They go stale, miss entries, or attach the wrong name. When two sources disagree, the agency that keeps the record wins, along with the court docket.

RecentlyBooked or Arre.stUnofficialSecondary Lewis County pages only. Verify names, dates, custody, and outcomes with official sources.

RecentlyBooked's Lewis County page offers a rolling 30-day view. It states plainly that the county does not release mugshot images. Arre.st has a Lewis County section too, but it gates access behind terms acceptance. Its coverage, fields, update pace, and photo policy remain unconfirmed. The Chronicle's recurring Sirens column and Hometown Debate's occasional arrest-log pieces are journalism, not custody records. Treat all of these as leads rather than as the record itself.

Note: Never identify a person from a secondary page's name alone, and never let one replace a direct custody check.

Lewis County Records in Archives

No single retention clock governs Lewis County booking photos. Under Washington's Law Enforcement Records Retention Schedule, how long a record lasts depends on its series, the photo type, case status, legal holds, court orders, and archival value. Adult inmate-custody files, covering admission through release, may be kept six years after incarceration ends. Facility registers can pass to the State Archives permanently once the agency no longer needs them.

Those rules govern paperwork, not promises. A record may still be missing, unsearchable, or closed to release. For an older jail record, start with the Sheriff Records Division. If the material may be archival or already left local hands, search the Washington State Archives Catalog and ask staff which collection rules and access limits apply.

Lewis County Busted City Paths

City police information and county-jail custody overlap, but they are not the same thing. Centralia posts dated Police Activity and Press Log PDFs. Those describe agency work, not a photo roster. Chehalis offers a police records route. It has no verified official arrest-log page, though. Napavine says its misdemeanant bookings happen at Lewis County Jail. Each city can point to a different booking destination or court, depending on the case. Knowing which agency handled the matter saves a step.

  • Centralia: Centralia Police activity logs can describe an event; an adult may enter the county jail system, but the log itself shows that destination can vary.
  • Chehalis: County roster entries can use the CHEH agency code, but a county-jail listing is not proof of every Chehalis police encounter.
  • Napavine: Municipal Court identifies Lewis County Jail as the booking location for misdemeanant bookings.

The city pages, linked in the sidebar and footer, keep those agency and booking differences clear. For any city, turn to the current county roster only when the person may actually be sitting in Lewis County Jail.
